How do you know if trichimonasis is cured?

7 Days ago I was treated with metronidazole 2 mg (one big dose) to treat trichimonasis. All my symptoms (vaginal discharge, itching, burning) are all gone as of actually the first day I took the meds. I have not had sexual intercourse since I was treated and both myself and partner were both treated at the same time. Is it ok to be have intercourse again? Is this an indication it's cleared? My doc told me no need to come back unless the symptoms returned.
